If you don't have time to make it to the many hiking trails outside of Seattle then Discovery Park makes a great escape for the outdoor lover. It is a huge park that sits at the tip of Magnolia and is filled with trails and great water views. I would recommend walking around (instead of driving) the trails and taking in all the natural beauty this city park has to offer. It is an odd setup though and some of the signs can be mis-leading, so I would grab a map at the visitor's center before wandering around. This park does have a lot of open space and if you don't have to time to make it out of the city, it could be a great adventure into nature.

It's becoming more and more popular. But if visitors keep their dogs on a leash and stay on existing trails, then the beauty of Discover Park will last for a very long time. You can visit my blog about Discover Park at discoverypark.typepad (dotcom) Thanks, Irwin
Pros: A complete escape right in the city.
Cons: The word is out.
